A lot has been happening since the sun came out at Craighead! We opened the Tree Howf and have now managed to add some photos of the inside as well as some of the amazing views you get when you stay.
We were down at the Wee Howf last night and the view was amazing across the water - it was a gorgeous evening so took a photo of it to share here.
Amazing news we have swallows already at home in the turret of the Tree Howf - will try and get some pictures of them once they hatch - visitors will get prime view of the nest.
Post by Heather:
Almost a year ago the idea for the Tree Howf turned in to plans. Since then on it has been a major ongoing project driven by Ian. Assisted at times by others including family and friends he has imagined, planned, designed, pushed on and kept going.
Joined by our son Lewis on his return from Canada the serious joinery work took shape and on the 20th May the Tree Howf welcomed its first guests - though not quite ultimately finished and with only five minutes to spare!
Today we officially opened it with our family and a glass of bubbly in the lovely sunshine.
We will get some photos on here soon and more detailed photos on the Tree Howf page but in the meantime we have posted on Facebook a few images from the weekends fun!
Is it just us or is winter arriving later than usual? We are certainly are not complaining however as we absolutely love Craighead in the snow and so do our lovely guests!
Here are some photographs that our daughter took while out a little walk around Craighead the other day.
Over the festive period, work didn't slow down on the Tree Howf and as you can see from the photos it is really coming along!
The walls are up and the roof is on. The wood burning stove has been installed and a very quirky shower is in the midst of being put in! The random little touches will continue to be added over the coming months and we really hope that all our Tree Howf future guests will love the charm.
We wish all our previous and future guests an absolutely amazing 2016. May this year bring you so much happiness, new experiences and most of all adventure!
It is certainly a year that will see a few changes here at Craighead, the main being the launch of the Tree Howf.
It is the 1st of December and my goodness does the weather suggest that! It has been a tad soggy here at Craighead however we have not let a little wind and rain and now snow get in the way of the development of the Tree Howf.
It has been, and continues to be, such a great project! So many quirky things have been included that we very much hope all our future guests will love as much as I have had building them!
Here are a few photos of how it is coming along! Let me know what you think!
In a fleeting comment made to us by one of our sons, we have decided to try and get as much of the Tree Howf complete by Christmas as we hope to enjoy a Boxing Day family meal out in it! Logistically from a building perspective, we should be able to make it covered well enough. However from a delicious turkey meal point of view - well, we are going to find out!
Therefore this past week I have been busy building and developing the Tree Howf - I think you will agree it is coming along nicely!
